MIX 21
The stencil that achieved remarkable success at the Creativeworld trade fair in Frankfurt
-
You mix the proportions you have chosen much faster. (Example: 50% light ochre yellow, 35% lemon yellow and 15% phthalo blue.)
-
The mixture is far more precise than mixing by eye.
-
You prepare exactly the quantity you need, for example +/- 5 ml (maximum approx. +/- 21 ml).
-
A more controlled use of paint, with less paint wasted.

Other examples : 60 % / 40 % → 6 : 4 75 % / 25 % → 7.5 : 2.5 45 % / 35 % / 20 % → 4.5 : 3.5 : 2
50 % / 30 % / 20 % → 5 : 3 : 2 80 % / 15 % / 5 % → 8 : 1.5 : 0.5 70 % / 20 % / 10 % → 7 : 2 : 1
55 % / 25 % / 20 % → 5.5 : 2.5 : 2 40 % / 40 % / 20 % → 4 : 4 : 2 33 % / 33 % / 34 % → 3.3 : 3.3 : 3.4
90 % / 10 % → 9 : 1
Examples of paint volumes using the 6 : 4 ratio 6 cm + 4 cm = 10 cm × 0.24 = +/- 2.4 ml
3 cm + 2 cm = 5 cm × 0.24 = +/- 1.2 ml 12 cm + 8 cm = 20 cm × 0.24 = +/- 4.8 ml
24 cm + 16 cm = 40 cm × 0.24 = +/- 9.6 ml

The maximum capacity of the MIX 21 is approximately +/- 21 ml.
For a 6 : 4 ratio : the “6” part represents approximately +/- 12.6 ml the “4” part represents approximately +/- 8.4 ml
Since 1 cm = +/- 0.24 ml : to obtain +/- 12.6 ml you need approximately 52 cm to obtain +/- 8.4 ml you need approximately 35 cm This gives a total of :
52 cm + 35 cm = approximately +/- 87 cm of available openings on the MIX 21.

I'm good at mixing colors, but once I found the right shade on my palette, it was difficult to recreate the same color in larger quantities. It always took a bit more of this and a bit more of that, a time-consuming process. Thanks to the Smart Color Chart, I now save a lot of time and consistently get the right results. With this handy tool, I can quickly repeat the exact mixture and store it in a color chart.

At first, I didn’t find this tool useful. I paint intuitively and rely on my experience and instincts. But I decided to give it a try. I was surprised by how easy and effective it was. It helped me find the right shades and proportions quickly and reproduce them without needing corrections. While I still rely on my intuition, this valuable technique now supports my process. Many thanks to the makers of the Smart Color Chart!
